See some spectacular scenery during the day. Buy favorite wines from producers directly. We will start day by driving to the 1st wine producer in Bokanjac, around 15 minutes drive from Zadar center.

Degarra Winery is a small “boutique” winery from Zadar region that produces limited series of top quality wines. Their motto “New and Original” besides pointing out the desire to enter the market with the new product every year, is also reflected in their desire to stand out from the others. Winery is situated in the Zadar hinterland – right in the heart of Ravni Kotar in Nadin. The first top-quality wine comes from their winery. They have regularly been awarded with numerous product quality acknowledgements and their wines have been recognised and accepted by leading world and Croatian wine experts. Also not to miss that their wines are official in Europarlament and King of Sweden was visiting their winery and tasted their products. 15 hectares of vineyards are tilled according to the strictest norms of ecological manufacture and every wine bottle carries an eco label. You will learn about the wines they produce, taste 3 different vines led by winemaker and have a traditional dalmatian lunch with extra 2 glasses of wine. After lunch we are visiting third winery just 20 minutes drive from Nadin in the small village Polača.

The farm winery founded in 2006 is situated in Ravni Kotari in the vicinity of the city of Biograd na Moru (8 km) as the result of the implementation of the project carrying a symbolic name The Three Graces (olive, wine and figs). That same year 12 000 olive trees, 50 000 grape-vines and 800 fig trees were planted over some 50 hectares of burnt and mined “Karst”, all in ecological manufacture. They offer purchase of their products on the spot, visits to olive groves, vineyards and fig orchards, as well as tasting of wine, cheese and oil at the MasVin belvedere.

Today the farm cooperative, with its high quality wines (Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Crljenak, Yellow Muskat, Cuvee, Chardonnay, Marashtina), extra virgin olive oil and fresh and dry figs accomplishes enviable results, awards and acknowledgements at manifestations of all levels. You will taste 3 different vines led by winemaker and taste some cheese and olive oil.

Tastes and Aromas of Pag

Visit and learn in the Gligora Dairy according to the following program:

  • the story of the Gligora Dairy and our production
  • tour of the production facility in the Dairy
  • visit to the ripening room in the Dairy cellar
  • tasting various Gligora cheeses in the tasting room on the upper floor of the Dairy with a breath-taking view

The island of Pag is most diverse Adriatic island with the highest number of basins, where the mild Mediterranean climate and the rough and cold continental climate of the snowy mountain tops meet thanks to the nearby Velebit, the most beautiful Croatian mountain.

Pag cheese is a beauty made of sage and immortelle, mugwort and cistus,
Jerusalem thorn and fennel msalted by hurricanes from two basins
eaten by Biliška and Mrkuša Kaloka and Rogulja, Ćala and Pećara
hiding among babulja rocks.

The bora, the sheep, the man. And the island of Pag. Here comes the recipe for Pag cheese, the most famous Croatian autochthonous cheese. The bora – the cold wind, rough and dangerous, unpredictable, moody, and so much needed. Needed for survival of the fittest. Only the plants such as sage, immortelle, cistus, Jerusalem thorn, fennel, could survive growing in the salty soil receiving the sea water from two basins: the channel under Velebit, and the Bay of Pag, and containing the salutary aromatic substances. The Pag sheep – called Biliška, Ćara, Pećara, Rogulja and Kaloka, resisted to the bora during centuries. The sheep eat aromatic plants in the meadows, among the rocks called babulji. The sheep are fully accustomed to the rough island weather and present an autochthonous species being kept freely on the pastures. Only the strongest and the most resistant can survive on the island. Together with the Pag sheep humans also survived here. They received the wool, the skin, the meat and finally the cheese from the sheep. The cheese is the Pag’s essence, the beauty. But it is not easily obtained. People used to get up before the dawn, build drystone walls, milk the sheep with their hands, turn the cheese around to preserve it…. a battle. Who is the strongest one? The bora, the island, the sheep? The human? But the effort is always recognized.

Discover the beauty of a so called moon island taste the famous pag chees, visit Gligora cheese factory and enjoy in the traditional lunch.

Degarra Winery is a small “boutique” winery from Zadar region that produces limited series of top quality wines. Their motto “New and Original” besides pointing out the desire to enter the market with the new product every year, is also reflected in their desire to stand out from the others.

The name “Degarra” is derived from the French concept “Vin de Garage”, which stands for small, passionate producers of some of the best wines.
